Life is a Spiritual Struggle I found this article very interesting. I liked how he related his passion of teaching to hsi passion for martial arts. I find it interesting that the school requires them to have a clear backpack so they can assure that there are no weaponss in them. I also like how he sees that his students take an interest in his martial arts and uses it to his advantage in his teaching. I also like how he points out that not all schools are brand new and like his some are falling apart. I also like how he told the readers that he has to keep his things on a cart. Admittance to a Better Life I agree with the authors first sentence completely. I do believe education can change someone completly. I also like how he talks about him not going to strip clubs anymore because it is degrading women. I feel like more men should see this and feel this way about them. I also find it interesting that he went back to school because a poem of his got published. I wonder how this poem got published? I also liked how he is letting go of his past and going into his future as a new man. I also love how because of going back to school due to his poem he is now going to be a professor. This I Believe I agree with this author one hundred percent when she questions what smart means. For instance, I had a Chemistry teacher who knew the insides and out of chemisrty but couldn't teach my class for anything. I believe this is because she taught over our heads. I also agree with her statment that even though her nona can read most things and couldn't count before she came to Canada it doesn't make her not smart. Her nona infact sounds like a really intellegent woman. Sher taught herself many things that she needed to survive and she doesn't blame anyone for her struggles. When I was reading this it reminded me of my nan a little bit with her stories of the Great Depression.
